As anyone who has followed my work for any amount of time knows, I love drawing mountains. Every once in a while I get a project which affords me that opportunity. Such was the case with the illustration project for the City of Boulder's "Transportation Master Plan". This time, however, I wasn't asked to stop at the foot of the mountains, and these mountains just happened to be in my own backyard!
The illustration included mountains, fields, and various iconic locations from Boulder itself. It served as the background of a massive +80" printed infographic, designed through Boulder's very own Room 214 by Benjamin Bowes. Working with the team from Room 214 was a genuine treat which helped the process to be exciting as the end result and I'm thrilled with the results. Hopefully, you'll enjoy them too! Editorial Illustration has been a significant part of the business I've done over the last year. I've had a number of opportunities to work with some really great magazines and I'm looking forward to doing more!
As an illustrator I relish the variety which comes with every Editorial brief. Whether I'm drawing machines, animals, or the great outdoors, every editorial assignment is unique and enjoyable in its own way.
One of the most significant factors in my artistic development as a child was the picture books I grew up with. I still own oversized vintage picture books drawn by some of the most amazing artists. Today, with 3 kids of my own, picture books are still a significant part of our household.
I have been writing and illustrating a number of stories which I hope to have published in the next few years. Nothing is more satisfying than creating work for my children to enjoy and I hope you enjoy it as well.
